Product Description

Reese part # 30142 is a fifth wheel hitch designed to pull RV campers using a long bed pickup truck that has been equipped with an Elite Series rail kit. It is rated to handle trailers up to 18,000lbs with 4,500lbs of tongue weight. Elite Series 5th wheel hitches have oversize head for a more stabile connection between the hitch and king pin on the trailer. It has four degrees of size to side pivot for improved ride quality and to make hooking up on uneven ground easier. The Elite Series hitch has an improved single forged self latching jaw that automatically locks on and reduces the wear and rattles. The funnel area was widened out to 9 inches which makes guiding the king pin into the hitch much easier. Elite Series hitches attach to four mounting points under the truck so when removed nothing is blocking access to the inside of the truck bed. Reese includes a 7-pin RV style plug with a 9' lead and quick connect wiring harness that plug right into the factor wiring with n o cutting or splicing necessary.

5For 2012 Ford F350 with Factory Hitch Prep..........
By Gold 2008
Bought this 18K version for my new 2012 Ford F350 SRW, which is rated to tow a 5th wheel up to 16,300# - perfect...........
One would need the 25K Ford or Reese version with the F350 dually that's rated to tow around 23,000#, but it costs more.
Amazon shipped it via FED EX & I received it very quickly.
Shipping weight is almost 150# so I had to use a hand truck to move it from the delivery vehicle to my garage.
Item was well packaged, but all the CARDBOARD box staples/seams were busted due to the weight and improper handling while in transit.
On the positive side, the box was taped over by "someone" and it arrived with all the parts still intact & undamaged, whew!
The Reese "ELITE" series is a custom fit for the new Fords with the trailer hitch prep and tow package and this one is easy to install.
Hitch height adjustment bolts are HAND TIGHT ONLY but they include a free wrench to tighten them, and they also include a molded,
*about 9' long* 7 pin cord that simply plugs into the existing wiring on newer trucks including Ford, Chevy & Dodge.
(I assume 'ya need the factory tow pkg) My Ford already had the 7 connector cable & plug installed, so it wasn't needed,
All in all a very good buy with free (Prime) shipping, very pleased with my purchase.

5Only one of two hitches that work on per-installed Ford rails.
By M. C. Thompson
This is one of two Reese fifth wheel hitches that would work with my 2011 Ford F350 factory rail kit. No other brand or style will work. It is very sturdy and well built and does everything I need of a hitch. It fit perfectly into my factory rail kit.
It is very heavy. If I want to remove it from my truck bed, I must remove the receiver from the base to make the parts light enough for me to lift. Even then, the base is still very heavy.
I would have opted for a less expensive hitch if I had a choice.
Amazon had the best price and also gave me free shipping on this 150 lbs item.

4Half price of what Ford charges
By Ian Bardsley
The 18K version of the hitch that Ford charges $1695 + tax. Is designed to fit into the Factory installed 5th wheel hitch prep kit. Unless you have a dually you really don't need the 25K version Ford sells. Might have rated it higher but my truck hasn't been delivered yet so haven't had a chance to try it.
