4Best trailer lock ever!!!!
By Martin D
I have been working in construction for 18 years. Even though I have not had my own trailer broken into, I have seen several that have been. The #1 way I have seen trailers broken into was to have the latch broken and to leave the lock untouched. This lock does an excellent job of not only locking the trailer, but of protecting the latch as well.

Why 4 stars? The lock is very difficult to install. It took several minutes to install the locks the first time. The problem is the pin that goes through the latch has a blunt end on it and the gasket that protects your trailer keeps everything from lining up. It almost seems as if this lock was designed without a gasket and it wouldn't be so hard to install if I took it off. I imagine over time the gasket will flatten out, and installation won't be an issue anymore. I have only been using the locks for two days and have noticed that they are already starting to get easier to take on and off. If I don't keep seeing an improvement, I am planning to grind the pin to a sharper point. I am positive this would make it easier to get the pin to go through all the holes, however I don't like modifying things if I don't have to. I used a rubber mallet once and that seemed to help, but who wants to carry a mallet on their key chain.

FYI I am a huge Amazon fan, but I couldn't see a way to order these locks keyed alike. I found them at Heartland Lock, LLC for a couple bucks more and I had the option of keying them alike or different.

update: I have had these locks for several years now. As I suspected, the gasket broke in and now they are easy to install. These are the best locks I have every used.

4Impressed at first but issue seems to be developing
By Hammerhead
A couple of years ago I had a trailer with 30 grand in tools get broken into and stripped clean. Since then I've never rested easy leaving a trailer on a jobsite. While I'll probably never be completely cool with it, these locks have gone a long way towards getting me there. These things are very well built and pretty slick. While you're never going to stop the pros from stealing your stuff, these will certainly discourage most of the losers out there with a set of bolt cutters looking for an easy score. They do a great job of sheilding the latch assembly and the pin that does the actual securing is just about impossible to get at. A well built great design. Definitely worth the price. I've searched high and low for better ways of securing the doors to my trailers, and have yet to find one better than this.

EDIT: 1/17/13: We've been using these to secure our trailer for the past couple of weeks. The one we use the most (on the rear barn doors of the t railer) is developing a problem. When you push the button to lock it, it often doesn't engage. Sometimes we need to 'pump' the button a dozen times or more to get it to catch. I'm really hoping I don't get caught with my pants down some night while we're packing up and can't get this thing to secure our trailer. Will update when I see where this goes.

5I needed something better...I hope this is it
By Darrin S. Trudeau
I have had thieves cut every lock I've tried. This one looks much tougher. Time will tell but I am hopeful.
